Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
Or at least I hope some of you are still reading my blog...
Although I have sucked in the blog department the past few months (and by "few" I mean, most of 2011), I've really been itching to get back online and write. I've come across several topics and events in the recent past that I deemed "blog worthy", but as of right this second, of course, I can't recall any of them. The anecdotes that I can remember are now super old news (ie. Bin Laden's death, extreme heat of summer, Justin Beiber*)
So, that said, I'm really starting this thing again, like, really. Consider this my "8-Months-thru-the-Year-resolution". My goal is to write (and publish) at least once a week. I've been reading a whole bunch this summer (my goal is to read at least 30 books this year, and I'm 19 down!) and though some of the novels I'm reading are brilliantly written, some of them really aren't that "oh-my-god-I-could-never-write-this-awesome-ever". Truth is, although I'm not a fiction writer, I feel my writing style is as good, if not better than some of these published authors.
It is my new dream (ambition?) to write a novel (or memoirs, or weekly/monthly newspaper/magazine column, etc). I want to be published.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Yo, if you can't keep up with this blog on a weekly basis, what makes you think you'll be able to pull off being a published writer, dude?"
First, thanks for sugar coating that for me. Secondly, I thrive with a deadline. Being left to my own literary devices, I'm not always providing my best or my most timely work, but being PAID to write and having to submit by press time, would surely motivate me.
Right, so there ya go. Post #1 of the "8-months-thru-the-Year-resolution" is done.
See you next week; or sometime before.
And you can quote me on that.
*I really have nothing to say about Justin Beiber. In fact I'll never have anything to say about Justin Beiber, like, ever. I was using him as an example of things that are old news... and things that no one wants to hear about, like, ever. HEY-O!*
